A former exchange student to iCLA from the University of the Philippines has been featured in Esquire.
Jose Lorenzo Reyna, Jr., who studied at iCLA as an exchange student in 2019, was featured by Esquire Philippines for his prestigious award in Orchestral Conducting.
In November last year, Reyna was awarded The American Prize in Conducting—college/university orchestra division, 2024. The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts celebrates excellence at professional, college/university, community and high school levels, and it is the most comprehensive series of contests in the performing arts within the United States.
The Esquire article, “How a Filipino Conductor Won a Prestigious American Prize in Orchestral Conducting,” delves into Reyna’s journey as a conductor, including his student days at the University of the Philippines and his flourishing career in the United States.
During his time at iCLA in 2019, Reyna studied music with Interdisciplinary Arts Professor Dr. Mike Blow. The University of the Philippines is one of iCLA’s partner universities.
A big congratulations to Jose Reyna for his outstanding achievements!
