The International Exchange Center and iCLA Language Acquisition Center O-Chat Time team jointly held the Tea Ceremony Workshop event.
Yamanashi Gakuin University’s International Exchange Center organizes workshops throughout the year to give everyone a chance to experience Japanese culture and traditional crafts. The theme for this workshop was traditional Japanese tea ceremony, or Sado.
The event was held in the iCLA lobby and cafeteria with guests from Yamanashi Gakuin Junior College and other academic departments of Yamanashi Gakuin University. Guests learned about the history of the art and the significance behind the ceremony equipment in a presentation delivered by Fukutome-sensei of the Language Acquisition Center (LAC). iCLA students then performed the Japanese tea ceremony and guests were able to enjoy eating the sweets with the tea prepared by iCLA students.
Thorough precautions against COVID-19 were taken during the event, such as wearing masks, disinfecting hands, taking temperatures, sanitizing surfaces, and maintaining distances.
Note: Masks were worn at all times during the event, except when drinking tea and eating sweets.
